Known for his hit single, “Mine,” released back in 2017, American-Lebanese singer Bazzi has been in the spotlight ever since. Born Andrew Bazzi to two Lebanese immigrant parents, the singer lived in Lebanon as a child. Moving back to the United States to finish high school in Santa Monica, California, he started pursuing a music career. He created Vine and YouTube accounts and attracted more than a million followers. The singer’s first song was titled “Bring You Home.” It became a hit in the first few days on the platform. More singles followed, including “Alone,” “Beautiful,” “Got Friends” and “Sober.”
When Bazzi released “Mine,” he immediately signed a deal with a record label. The song became a huge internet meme with various social media filters. It also debuted on the Billboard Top 100, starting at No. 56 in January 2018. It peaked in the No. 11 spot. During this time, Bazzi released three other singles: “Why,” “Gone” and “Honest.” He finally released his first album, Cosmic, in April of the same year. Cosmic debuted in the No. 35 spot and peaked in the No. 14 spot on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums. Soul Searching followed in 2019, which included hit songs “Paradise” and “Caught and Fire.”
The artist is also known for his collaborations. He joined Camilla Cabello on her Never Be The Same North American tour leg. He also created the famed remix of “Beautiful.” Additionally, Bazzi was a featured artist on Justin Timberlake’s Man of the Woods tour. He opened up for Timberlake’s European tour leg.
While all this was going on, Bazzi received a nomination for an MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist. Coming out of COVID was a struggle, as it was for everyone, but the artist managed to get back on his feet. He released his most recent album, Infinite Dreams, in 2022. He toured this past Spring in support of that album. Here’s hoping he continues to make a name for himself after so much success.
Latest Single: “Pretty Lies”
Bazzi released this single a couple of weeks ago and it hits that introspective vibe he is so good at in terms of songwriting and delivery. It has already amassed over 1.3 million Spotify streams and popped up to 6.4 million on TikTok.
The intro features him as the multi-instrumentalist that he is opening the song on acoustic guitar. There is a drum track that keeps the open pushing onward. The lyrics chronicle the end of a relationship and use the analogy of a sunset for the close. “The sun is prettiest right before it says goodbye – leaving you only with the memories of the pinks and purples. How beautiful you were in our last moments together.” We’re still awaiting word on when his new album will be dropping.
