With the recent news of the iconic K-Pop boy band BTS going on an indefinite hiatus. Many of us were left wondering “What will become of my guilty pleasure genre?” Well, fear not my reader as I have a blast from the past who will carry the torch in a proud way. The Nickelodeon created then actually legitimate boy band, Big Time Rush, has returned. When the world needed them most, they appeared… and with some pretty sweet songs too.
From BTS to BTR:
There’s absolutely no denying that you might think what you’ve just read to be a lie. A farce. A cheap attempt at clicks, but I am no liar. For those of you who are currently searching your memory for the fever dream that is Big Time Rush… Go watch the show on Netflix, it’s literally all there.
Watched it? Great! Now that you’re caught up on the lore then you’d know that Big Time Rush was not only a show but a legitimate boy band. They produced albums while the show was being made and utilized that as marketing and just made great television. It’s been a really long time since we’ve seen them. Luckily, they’ve returned and they’ll be carrying the torch as THE boy band to listen to.
Big Time Rush Carries the Torch with ‘Honey’:
Kendall, James, Carlos, and Logan have been releasing some bangers as of late. Songs like ‘Fall’, ‘Call It Like I See It’, ‘Not Giving You Up’, and now ‘Honey’. I strongly urge you to listen to all of them, but for all intents and purposes, let’s stick to ‘Honey’.
This song is so damn good. The fat bass line and energetic drums followed by the highly distinctive vocals from the boys, this one’s a must-listen. Lyrically, Big Time Rush goes into being obsessed with someone you find wildly attractive, even if it’s to your own detriment.
