You’re About to be “obsessed” With IDER

English alternative duo IDER are back with a new single off their upcoming sophomore album shame. “Obsessed” gives us a glimpse into what the girls have been working on.

Announcing shame With “Cross Yourself”

Since the beginning of the year, IDER has been releasing singles. In April, the duo released the lead single off shame, “Cross Yourself,” and announced the album along with it. “‘Cross Yourself’ is a reflection on how we search for purpose. How we often attach meaning to things or like the idea of something external to believe in; in exchange for believing in ourselves,” they said at the time.

In June, they shared another single with us, “BORED”. Now, “obsessed” marks the third single that the girls have shared to preview the album, and we really can’t complain.

“Obsessed” Might Be The Final Single Prior to the Album’s Release

“Obsessed” is a very chill, relaxing track that tackles the uncertainties within a romantic relationship. “Could I cheat on you?/ Could you cheat me too?/ Is this loyalty, what is loyalty?” they sing in a verse. The single, co-written and co-produced by Kiran Kai (Rejjie Snow, Jordan Rakei, Connie Constance), arrives with a red-filtered and distorted official video.

Sharing the news of the new track coming out, IDER posted on their Instagram account, “‘obsessed’ is out now!! Along with a cute vid we made. watch, stream, get obsessed via the link in our bio. Co-produced & written with Kiran Kai starting in a tiny studio underneath a shop in Camden with a long list of questions…We hope you love this track as much as we do.”

Discussing their relocation to Berlin to write shame, IDER explain, “We got there, and we got COVID four weeks later. We had three weeks of heaven where we wrote so much new music and it was everything we dreamed of, living that chaotic, no-routine lifestyle. We Thelma and Louised it back, because the messaging at the time was ‘if you don’t come back to London now, you never will.’”

Shame comes out on August 6, so mark your calendars!
