XYLØ Releases “i love you in an english accent”

Dubbed the “Queen of Dark Pop,” XYLØ beats post-album blues with the hot rock-infused single, “i love you in an english accent.”

The 28-year-old LA-native found breakthrough success with her brooding debut EP “America” (2015). With over 600M collective streams, a platinum-selling record with The Chainsmokers, sold-out tours & the release of her debut album “unamerican beauty” (2022). XYLØ has been named the “Queen of Dark Pop” by Nylon Magazine.

“I love you in an english accent” describes the feeling of being in love through avant-garde one-liners and an instantly memorable chorus.

XYLØ begins, “The cold side of the pillow / Clean hair and the way you stroke it back / A sharp knife, that first bite / When you talk like a book with that look in those puppy dog eyes.” While the verses remain sonically subdued and lyrically charming, the instrumental shifts to a supercharged chorus with a sick snare and dangerous bass.

In a statement, Paige Duddy (aka XYLØ) said, “When I wrote this song I found it so annoying I hated it, so I’m sure people will love it.”

Over the chorus, she repeats, “I love you,” horridly and fast and, of course, in an English accent. When the last chorus rounds out, XYLØ’s declaration becomes more delirious until she overlaps herself, the guitars sync eerily, and it all fades out.

The poster reads, “THE ARTIST XYLØ IS GOING ON TOUR.” So, it must be true. In fact, her “unamerican beauty” tour starts October 21 in Boston and ends November 10 in LA. The 10-stop tour will have support from singers Jillian Rose and CXLOE (on select tour dates). However, both supporting acts will be at the last shows.
