What To Know About The New Superman Reboot

Earlier this year, it was finally announced that the famous Superman franchise was going to get yet another reboot. Formally known as Superman Legacy, the film hit theaters this summer and directed by James Gunn. Given the months-long casting process, Gunn finally revealed he was going to cast David  Corenswet as Superman. Known for playing in the horror movie Pearl and Netflix’s The Politician, Gunn mentioned to Direct that “Coresweat is the incarnation of the character itself, making him perfect for the role”. The leading lady of the movie is none other than Lois Lane. Played by Rachel Brosnahan, famously known for her role in Amazon Prime’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Plotline Development

With the question over the storyline, Gunn also mentioned to Direct that it will feature a “workplace origin story.” In other words, according to Direct, it tells the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas.” On the other hand, Lois will be depicted as his love interest and colleague at the Daily Planet newspaper. It was also mentioned that a group known as The Authority will be the villain, but nothing has been revealed. A plot that could possibly turn into Clark Kent clashing with the group with his double life on the line.

Honoring The Past Of These Characters

With the revealed plot line sounds like a repeat of all the other Superman movies, Gunn wanted to avoid that. He told Direct that “I don’t think the movie will be worth making a redo of any other Superman adaption. For us truly to thrive as a studio, we need to honor the past of these characters while simultaneously seeing them in a new light.” With the release date is two years away, fans have to wait to see what Superman is up to next.
