K-Pop girl group TWICE proves that their legacy is all love on their pop-trap English pre-single “Moonlight Sunrise.” The accompanying music video highlights all nine members in breath-taking individual shots and has time for group dances in front of a massive hear locket.
This is the group’s second English song after 2021’s “The Feels.”
Inspiration Behind “Moonlight Sunrise”
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE Magazine, the group revealed that “Moonlight Sunrise” was inspired by their fan interactions (known as Once) from their last tour.
“The inspiration came from the last tour [date] we had in L.A.,” Jihyo says. She reflects on the surprise second date at Banc of California Stadium, added due to fan demand.
“During the tour, we had performed under the moonlight and we were dancing, and the composer for this song was there. He found our performance so beautiful, so that was what the inspiration of this song.”
The tribute song’s music video reminds the Once bunch of what they love about their idols. Littered with heart cutouts, flowers and glittery butterflies, TWICE generates a light, flirtatious atmosphere against their powerhouse presence. And after their record-breaking achievements in 2022, this release feels like a special Thank You to their fans.
Sana, Jihyo, Momo and Dahyun mix on the chorus, pushing the glitzy pop masterpiece to another a new high. The intimate lyrics reveal TWICE’s non-stop dedication to entertaining after nearly seven years. “Moonlight sunrise / Baby, come be my starlight / Moonlight sunrise / Oh, baby, just to make you stay / Moonlight sunrise / Baby, let’s do it all night/ Moonlight sunrise / I guarantee I got ya.”
The K-pop veterans show no sign of slowing down. Their next mini-album, Our Youth, is out in March. And despite no official tour announcement, the members are eager to conquer the world again. Momo tells PEOPLE, “It’s an opportunity for us to see our fans face to face and it really gives us so much energy.”
