The next MTV Unplugged artist is going to be American alternative rock band Twenty One Pilots.

The next music artist in the iconic MTV Unplugged series is going to be Grammy-winning duo Twenty One Pilots. MTV Unplugged showcases musical artists playing live, stripped-back versions of their music. The television show provides fans with quality performances and intimate settings.

Released in May of 2021, Scaled and Icy is the rock duo’s most recent album. On MTV Unplugged, they’ll undoubtedly play a mix of their classic chart-toppers and newest hits. This could lead to a very exciting menagerie for the show. Twenty One Pilots has always been known for their wide range in music genres. They’ve played music that was alternative rock, alternative hip hop, indie pop, electro pop, and rap rock, to name a few.

According to Taylor Mims at Billboard, MTV Unplugged in Partnership With Rockstar Energy Drink Present: Twenty One Pilots will premiere June 9th at 9 p.m. EST. The special will air exclusively on MTV.

The alt rock duo is currently getting ready for their world tour: The Icy Tour. This tour is the rebranded second leg of their 2021 Takeover Tour. The band will tour around North America and Europe this summer and fall. Tickets, dates, and locations for the tour can be found here.

Additionally, Twenty One Pilots will be releasing the Twenty One Pilots Cinema Experience. The film will include an extended cut of Twenty One Pilots’ 2021 album release livestream performance, with the video and audio remastered for the big screen. There will also be more than 20 minutes of exclusive, never-before-seen footage of the band.
