New Christmas Music
Thanksgiving has passed and that could only mean one thing: All Christmas festivities are in full swing. Although, this year may look different from the rest, there is still one thing that always brings the Holiday season vibes–Christmas Music!
It is important to have a festive playlist that everyone can listen to as we prepare for a Coronavirus Christmas. Some of our favorite artists have gifted festive tunes to get us in the holiday spirit. From covers of re-imaginations of old carols to catchy original Christmas tracks, here is a list of some of our favorite albums that have dropped this season!
Meghan Trainor – A Very Trainor Christmas
Pop star known for the song “All About That Bass” is all about the holidays this year with her first ever Christmas album. This 18 track holiday tribute isfilled with original festive tracks as wells the traditional Christmas songs we all know. Trainor features much of her relatives, making this a holiday family affair. Her father, Gary Trainor, sings a cover of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”. In addition, her cousins: Jayden, Jenna, and Marcus Toney are featured on the track “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”. Other notable features include Seth MacFarlane and Earth,Wind and Fire.
for KING & COUNTRY – A Drummer Boy Christmas
The four-time Grammy Award-winning Australian duo has released their first Christmas album. The 13-track album features great acts like the award-winning band NEEDTOBREATHE – featured on “O Come, O Come Emmanuel”. This comes after the success that stemmed from their2019 CMA performance of the Christmas classic ‘Little Drummer Boy’.
Leslie Odom Jr. – The Christmas Album
Leslie Odom,Jr. –known for his vocals and acting in the Broadway Musical ‘Hamilton’–dropped his second Christmas album in late November. The talented vocalist reimagines traditional Christmas songs with jazzy and smooth renditions. Not to mention, the album includes original tracks like “Snow,” as well as some great features like The Walls Group.
Love Renaissance (LVRN), 6lack, Summer Walker – Home For The Holidays–
Love Renaissance is an Atlanta based record label that recently released a holiday LP featuring all of the label’s artists. The R&B/ hip-hop Christmas project puts an exciting twist on the festive holidays with original tracks like ‘Ghetto Christmas’ and ‘12 Days of Bhristmas’. The label is home to artist like Boogie, DRAM, and Kitty Ca$h all who make appearances on the LP.
Carrie Underwood – My Gift
The country idol has cashed in with her first Christmas Album, debuting at #1 on the Billboard’s Country and Christian list. The Grammy-award winning artist dropped the LP back in September and covers the holiday’s most popular songs as well as some original Christian tunes. Her signature country twang is felt through all of the tracks. Underwood even has a feature from the vocal legend, John Legend on “Hallelujah”. HBO Max has also collaborated to bring LP to life with a Christmas special that features a duet with Underwood’s 5-year-old son on “Little Drummer Boy”
