The Top 10 Pop Christmas Singles of 2020

2020 has surely made us have a rollercoaster of emotions the entire year. But after every storm, there’s a rainbow. If there’s something good that 2020 has left us, is a great year of music, and now that the holiday season is upon us there have been great new releases of pop Christmas music. Here is my top 10:

1) 'Oh Santa!' - Mariah Carey ft. Ariana Grande & Jennifer Hudson

These girls got together to give us the perfect combination of a Christmas song and a pop anthem. In the music video, we can see the trio singing on a stage to elves in what appears to be Santa’s warehouse. They sing about asking Santa to bring the man of their dreams home. At the end of the song, Mariah and Ariana both showed us their vocal skills and sang in a very high pitch – sounding amazing.

2) 'Under the Mistletoe' - Kelly Clarkson ft. Brett Eldredge

These two didn’t disappoint when putting this classic sounding Christmas song together. Singing about spending the holidays with your significant other, they explain the feeling of being under the mistletoe with that special person. Plus, the music video is super cute!

3) 'Christmas Saves the Year' - Twenty One Pilots

This song is the duo’s first-ever Christmas song. They teased on Twitch in the form of a visualizer in an event organized to raise funds for the Make a Wish Foundation, and the song became available to stream after that. They sing “Even if the world is crumblin’ down…You rest assured, Christmas saves the year.”

4) 'Baby I'm Coming Home' - Ally Brooke

The former Fifth Harmony member loves Christmas, and she decided to show it in a song. It’s a song about being far away from your special someone, but being able to fly home to them to spend Christmas together.

5) 'Holidays' - Meghan Trainor ft. Earth, Wind & Fire

Meghan surely knows how to make us dance. The trumpet-filled song is part of her album A Very Trainor Christmas, and it’s a disco gem perfect to end 2020 with your loved ones, have fun, and enjoy the night.

6) 'Christmas Without You' - Ava Max

Ava knows the feeling of not having your significant other with you during the holidays. She sings about missing that person and wishing they were there with her. “I wish we were kissing under mistletoe, the stars on the sky just can’t match your glow.” Although the lyrics of the song are emotional, she made them sound not so sad in a very festive melody.

7) 'I Need You Christmas' - Jonas Brothers

The brothers added another Christmas song to their list. This ballad is the follow-up to upbeat bop “Like it’s Christmas,” released last year. On this peaceful melody, they sing about how Christmas has made them feel over the years. For the official lyric video, they even shared cute photos and videos of them as kids and spending time with their family.

8) 'The Christmas Song' - Shawn Mendes ft. Camila Cabello

This pair only want to keep showing us how much they love each other. This is a classic-sounding Christmas ballad and the music video was a perfect fit for it. On it, we can see the couple spending Christmas together along with their families and their new puppy Tarzan (which is adorable!)

9) Naughty List - Liam Payne ft. Dixie D'Amelio

The former One Direction member and TikTok star put together this flirtatious Christmas pop anthem. They know that Christmas is not only about being good and having a peaceful time, but there are also the people who didn’t make it to Santa’s good list, which is them. They sing about spending so much time under the mistletoe and thus, being put on Santa’s naughty list.

10) 'Thank You' - Pentatonix

Finally, I had to finish the list by putting this single of the group’s We Need a Little Christmas album. “We know it’s been quite a year, but we hope our new album of Christmas songs will bring some comfort to you and your family during the holiday season!” the group wrote on Instagram. They sing about it being a very long year, but Christmas is finally here to make it better.
