Lil Yachty’s new single “Love Music” dropped earlier this week. The single takes a different path from his usual hard-hitting tracks. This is Yachty’s first release since his last mixtape, Michigan Boy Boat.
Taking a turn down this new rhythmic path, fans can’t help but wonder whether to expect a new sound from Yachty soon. Many fans are relating this new sound to 2017-era Yachty, with his debut album Teenage Emotions.
Early 2000’s Love in Lil’ Yachty’s new single
“Love Music” delivers a soft-tone where we hear him expressing his gratitude over a romance that grows from high school dances to marriage. “You were my wife, baby, you were my wife/ Baby, you run my life/ I don’t know where we will stand if we do not dance/ You are my type, baby, you are my type.” The song delivers an early 2000’s ending-love-scene in a movie sound. This alternative-grunge-pop song is a sure way for Yachty to keep his fans interested. This track shows them how versatile of an artist he can really be.
Not only might we be getting an alternative Yachty sound, but he has also recently been teasing R&B snippets on his Instagram. On June 13th he posted a video of him rapping over Ne-Yo’s “Sexy Love,” captioning it “@neyo hey, will u clear this?” Maybe we should even be expecting a Yachty and Ne-Yo collab, or maybe I’m speaking too soon.
