As the days pass, I come to love more and more the unsung hero of filmmaking: the soundtrack composer. Today we’ll be taking a look at Ludwig Göransson and the soundtrack for the heavily anticipated film: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
A Little Bit About Ludwig And ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’
Before I get to my (totally not) patented “Big Three,” I’m going to take a second to talk about Ludwig. This guy, this chad, this absolute legend was born exactly 15 years before me. So you know he’s already a cool guy. However, this phenomenal Swedish man got his feet wet by working with the incredible Ryan Coogler while in college. The rest is history.
With that tidbit, obviously he was going to be Ryan Coogler’s choice for his MCU directorial debut with Black Panther. While many things from that film are praise worthy, the score and the understanding of the culture inspiring Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was perfectly captured. So when the confirmation of his return came out for the sequel, you know I was excited!
The Big Three:
This section’s going to be a bit smaller than usual as I’d like to share what Ludwig said about the work himself. Let’s get into it!
First up is “Love & Loyalty (Believe).” This one’s got Shuri written all over it! The main character of the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has great representation. Aside from the obvious turmoil she must feel, as indicated by this film’s rendition of “No Woman No Cry.”
Next up from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack is “La Vida.” This one’s Wakanda’s theme song and I absolutely adore it! With the fact that the song is bilingual, featuring an awesome Spanish flow from Snow Tha Product. The beat optimism is illustrating the paradise that Wakanda would be if it was real.
Last up is “Árboles Bajo El Mar,” because of course we gotta take a trip down to the ocean with Namor! This one’s a bit eerie and beautiful. It captivates you with its somewhat minimalistic production and stunning vocals. That’s thanks to Vivir Quintana & Mare Advertencia’s wonderful voices. Go and give it a listen.
All in all, the soundtrack surely isn’t lacking. We’ll just have to see how Black Panther: Wakanda Forever itself turns out! The movie is out now! Go out and watch it! For more on your favorites and unknowns check out our Word and Drops sections.
