The Nominees For This Year’s SAG Awards

Ahead of the February awards show, the nominations for the Screen Actors Guild are finally in. As many of these nominations coincide with other award winners ahead of the Academy Awards in March, some of them deserve to be recognized in any such way. As always, all these nominations include film and television, with fourteen categories to choose from. Awards are voted on by the SAG-AFTRA’s 119,515 members eligible for voting. According to Billboard, this will be the largest voting body during the awards season.

The SAG Nominations

Selena Gomez received her third SAG nomination for the Hulu comedy series Only Murders In The Building. Unfortunately, she was passed over for outstanding performance by a female actor in a select comedy series. Other notable nominations include Bradley Cooper for his performance as Leonard Burstein in Maestro, as well as Fantasia Barrino for The Color Purple. For television, the clear winner is Succession, nominated for five awards. The runner-ups include The Bear, The Last of Us and Ted Lasso, each with four nominations. In the categories of film, Barbie and Oppenheimer were the clear favorites, each with four nominations. The film runner-ups include American Fiction and Killers of the Flower Moon, with three nominations.

Out of the countless list of awards that can be given out, the most important will go to Barbara Streisand. The recipient of 2024’s SAG Lifetime Achievement Award, she is the 59th recipient of tribute. She follows Sally Field, who was last year’s recipient for her outstanding work in the film industry. As the nominations are still open until February 23rd, it will be interesting to see which film or TV series comes out with the most wins. The awards will kick off at 8PM ET/5PM ET on February 24 from the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles live on Netflix.
