The Knocks Recruit Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo, Royal & The Serpent for “Sound the Alarm”

EDM duo The Knocks recruited Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo and Royal & The Serpent for the new alternative dance track “Sound the Alarm.”

“Sound the Alarm” is the Perfect Mixture for These Three Acts

“Sound the Alarm” is the perfect mixture of the sound of these three amazing artists/groups. Giving us a chill but upbeat vibe, Rivers and Royal combine their vocals to create an organized and truthful song. The Knocks add up their classic dance knowledge, making it a track ideal to listen for a night in with your friends.

The Knocks are mostly known for their 2018 hit “Best Friend” alongside other EDM giants Sofi Tukker, NERVO, and Alisa Ueno. This year, they hit the charts once again with “Fireworks,” where they collaborated with Purple Disco Machine and Moss Mena. The song already surpassed the 50 million streams on Spotify, even though it just came out in February.

The Knocks are Big Weezer’s Fans

About the new collaboration with these amazing artists on “Sound the Alarm,” The Knocks say, “We are so honored and thrilled to be collaborating with such talented artists. Both Rivers and Royal brought a unique energy and sound that complimented each other so well. With ‘Sound The Alarm,’ we wanted to capture the feeling of letting go and the freedom that it provides. The production is rooted in electronic music. It was a fun challenge to find the balance between both of their musical styles and ours; create something new that is uniquely all of us.”

The Knocks’ Ben Ruttner adds, “I grew up listening to Weezer as a kid. One of our early gigs as The Knocks in 2012 was playing the Weezer cruise. It’s been surreal to have this all come full circle.”

Adding even more craziness to the collaboration, The Knocks shared on their Instagram account a DM they sent Rivers back in 2018. They messaged him saying “Huge fans man – would love to do a song! I think it would be magic.” Who would’ve thought that we would actually be getting a song from them together three years later?!
