Taylor Swift Hints at 1989 (Taylor’s Version) with New Song

Taylor Swift dropped the second song from the upcoming 1989 (Taylor’s Version). “This Love (Taylor’s Version)” is featured in the trailer for the Prime Video original teen romance, The Summer I Turned Pretty. Swift dropped “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)” all the way back in September of 2021. However, after a series of cryptic messages and hints, it looks like fans will enjoy 1989 (Taylor’s Version) in the very near future.

The Latest from Taylor Swift

“This Love (Taylor’s Version)” features minimal, immaculate production, that lets her poetic lyrics take center stage. “This love is good, this love is bad/ This love is alive back from the dead, oh/ These hands had to let it go free, and/ This love came back to me, oh”, she sings in the song’s airy, ethereal chorus. 1989 is quite possibly Swift’s most commercially successful album, released in 2014, selling over nine million copies. And you can hear her growth over the years in “This Love (Taylor’s Version)”.

Is 1989 (Taylor’s Version) Next?

One of the biggest hints that 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is on the horizon is Swift’s merch store. As The Summer I Turned Pretty trailer premiered, the “1989 Shop” became available on Swift’s website. Everything from t-shirts and sweatshirts to blankets and pillows are available to purchase.

One Tik Tok user points out the Mercedes featured in the “All Too Well” short film was made in 1989. Was it just a coincidence? Maybe not. “Can’t stop won’t stop being cryptic and weird,” Taylor commented on the post, “That’s just the beginning.”

Swift is teasing “Carolina”, a new song in the film version of Delia Owens’ 2018 blockbuster novel, “Where the Crawdads Sing”. On March 22, the song first appeared in a trailer for the film. While there’s no official release date for “Carolina,” if it coordinates with the film’s release, we can expect it in mid-July.
