Sia & David Guetta Join Forces in ‘Floating Through Space’ for Movie “Music”

Sia & David Guetta have united once again for the new song ‘Floating Through Space’. As expected, the song has an upbeat dance-pop melody with great lyrics too. The duo has previously collaborated on 8 other songs and gained tons of commercial success with hits like ‘Titanium’ and ‘Flames’.

‘Floating Through Space’ is Part of Music

‘Floating Through Space’ is part of Sia’s eighth studio album, Music – Songs From And Inspired By The Motion Picture. The album comes out this Friday, February 12 and it will be released along with the movie produced by Sia.

Some songs of Sia’s new album have already been released besides ‘Floating Through Space’. She released the lead single ‘Together’ and its colorful accompanying visual on May 20, 2020, followed up by ‘Courage to Change’ on September 24, which she later performed at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards. She dropped a third single ‘Hey Boy’ on November. 19, the same day she announced the movie’s soundtrack.

Music Will Talk About Autism

The movie will touch on strong topics such as autism. In the movie, Oscar-nominated actress Kate Hudson plays Zu, a “newly sober drug dealer, and self-saboteur.” She becomes the sole guardian of her autistic half-sister Music, who’s played by Sia’s longtime dancer Maddie Ziegler. As Zu struggles to take care of Music, she turns to her friendly neighbor Ebo, who’s played by Hamilton star Leslie Odom Jr., for help.

Sadly, Sia faced severe backlash in November from the autistic community. This happened due to casting Ziegler for the role rather than an actor on the autism spectrum. “Grrrrrrrrrr. F–kity f–k why don’t you watch my film before you judge it? FURY,” the “Chandelier” singer wrote in a since-deleted tweet shortly after revealing the trailer.

She elaborated further on the controversy to Australia’s The Sunday Project this month, stating, “I mean, it is ableism I guess as well, but it’s actually nepotism because I can’t do a project without her [Ziegler]. I don’t want to. I wouldn’t make art if it didn’t include her.”

We certainly can’t wait to listen to the rest of Sia’s album this Friday, and watch the movie too! In the meantime, we can dance along with ‘Floating Through Space’.
