Shania Twain recently received a lifetime achievement award from The People’s Choice awards and for good reason. She pretty much created and perfected the genre Pop-Country and paved the way for other successful Pop country acts like Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts and Taylor Swift among others. Music Daily is looking back on her career as she just dropped her newest single, “Giddy Up” and has her “Queen of Me” album dropping in February.
Shania’s Career Longevity
Shania Twain was born Eilleen Regina Edwards in 1965 Windsor Ontario. Known for her breakthrough album Come On Over with smash hit tracks like “Your Still the One” and “Man I feel like a woman” and earlier successes like The Woman in Me. Then found continued success with Up. Speaking of which, “Up” the single is a true classic and a great way to start your day.
I can think of few artists that exhibit the prowess and that have forged such a career as Shania Twain. Hall of fame pitcher, the late great Roy Halladay said Shania Twain was his first concert. Proving how she appealed to male audiences as well as female. I can’t think of a more all encompassing concert than Shania Twain. She basically created the genre Country Pop with songs such as “You’re still the one,” “Not just a girl,” and “Rock This Country.”
Notable Smash Hits
“You’re still The One I want” might be her best and most beloved single next to “Man, I feel Like A Woman.” Both songs glow and are really solid. “Rock this country” is a good anthem and woodwork at any sporting event.
Other hits include “Any man of mine” which and “from this moment on” focus on. Then “I’m gonna getcha good” is a fun ballad similar to “Man I feel like a Woman” which paved the way for other artists to make anthems like “Before He Cheats” (Carrie Underwood). “Poor me” in particular is an amazing song that has some stellar guitar chords that really make it shine. I would also recommend this song for people who aren’t necessarily Shania Twain fans. It has great mainstream and alternative rock appeal.
Tracks like this cement Shania Twain as one of the best pop artists in music. Shania’s music is well produced, orchestrated, and sung. Her new single has us at Music Daily looking forward to the next singles coming out!
