Rising singer-songwriter Sadie Jean has returned with new music nearly a year after the release of her viral single “WYD Now?”
Sadie Is Back After Almost A Year
Do you remember Sadie Jean? Last year, she released her debut single “WYD Now?” which went viral on TikTok, and made her recognized by big artists like Lauv, Charlie Puth, and Shawn Mendes. To date, it has amassed over 200 million streams across all platforms, topping multiple charts including #30 on the Global Viral Spotify charts and #23 on iTunes Top Songs.
Now, the singer-songwriter who stole our hearts thanks to her delicate songwriting and performances, returns with a brand new ballad. And just like “WYD Now?” made us cry all night, “Locksmith” will make us do the exact same thing.
Looking For Closure On “Locksmith”
“Locksmith” tells the story of an estranged relationship between Sadie and an ex, whom she still has feelings for. Throughout her storytelling, we can see that the couple tried to rush things too soon, causing them to fall apart even though they still loved each other. She reveals that she still thinks about that person, and has hope for them to reunite sometime in the future.
“If in ten years time I’m still on your mind. Would you call and say you want this? No matter where we are, you still have my heart. ‘Cause I locked it, and I promise. You’re the locksmith,” Sadie sings in the chorus.
“Experiencing a love that never goes away is so weird, beautiful, and sad,” Sadie says. “I wrote ‘Locksmith’ to give myself a very specific kind of closure I was looking for. It’s by far my favorite song of mine right now. Writing it felt genuinely magical, every lyric is exactly what it’s supposed to be. It’s so anthemic, sonically inspired by early Coldplay and The Script. I hope I can give my listeners the same cathartic experience writing this song gave me.”
She Has Sold Out Three Shows This Year
Even though this is only Sadie’s second release, she already sold out three shows this year. Including venues like the Constellation Room in Santa Ana, CA, and the Mercury Lounge in New York City. The last one happened earlier this month – her first international headline show on October 3rd at the Grace in London.
