RM, Jimin, V and Jung Kook Have Begun Their Enlistment Processes
Since the end of 2022, when Jin enlisted, the members of BTS have been staggering their military enlistments. j-hope enlisted in April of this year. Then, SUGA began his enlistment in September. Now, the remaining four members—RM, Jimin, V and Jung Kook—have started their preparations for their military service.
The releases of Jimin’s, V’s and Jung Kook’s solo albums were their parting gifts to fans. ARMYs have been wondering when the maknae line was going to drop solo projects. While these three members all have solo songs, both within BTS’ discography and outside of it, fans had hoped for endeavors that were a little more substantial than singles. Thankfully, ARMY now has those substantial projects to replay for years, in addition to the already existing solo projects.
Last year, before enlisting, Jin released his collaboration with Coldplay, “The Astronaut.” Earlier this year, RM collaborated with several artists, including So!YoON! and her song “Smoke Sprite.” RM also already has two solo mixtapes and one album: RM (2015), mono. (2018) and Indigo (2022). j-hope and SUGA have also released solo work before as both mixtapes and albums. They also had their solo tour documentaries hit theaters this past summer.
And yet, despite the amount of solo content fans have received this year, saying goodbye for now to BTS is still bittersweet. All ARMY can do is wait for 2025.
