Afro-fusion artist Rema and Selena Gomez have finally collaborated on a remix of Rema’s single “Calm Down.” The collaboration comes after Gomez and Rema met backstage at Rema’s Rave & Roses Tour.

On her Instagram, Gomez first teased the collaboration with a snippet of the remixed song. Check out the post below.

The Afrobeats artist’s Rave & Roses tour follows the March release of his debut album, Rave & Roses. His original version of “Calm Down” was the second single off the album. The first Rave & Roses single was “Soundgasm.” Both songs have made several Billboard charts.

For the remix, he and Gomez sing from different perspectives. Rema sings about wanting to approach a girl he finds attractive but being worried about rejection. Gomez then comes in on the second verse and sings about her effect on the person she’s interested in and her awareness of it.

Rema rides the song’s beat like a pro. However, fans are both unsurprised and still slightly shocked at how well Gomez’s voice sounds in the song. Her voice is smooth and flirty—perfect for the summer breeze of a song.

This collaboration is Gomez’s first one of 2022. It follows her special feature on Coldplay’s song “Let Somebody Go,” which came out last year. “Let Somebody Go” was a single off of Coldplay’s album Music of the Spheres.

On the other hand, Rema has had several collaborations for Rave & Roses this year. R&B and hip hop artists such as 6LACK, Chris Brown, AJ Tracey, and Yseult all made guest appearances on the debut album.

Fans are hoping to see a music video from the pair, but as of right now, they can enjoy the official lyric video. Check it out below!
