Red, White & Royal Blue is an upcoming feature film about rivalry and love between the son of the American president and the son of Britain’s royal family.
In Red, White & Royal Blue, Alex Claremont-Diaz, son of the first American female president, and Prince Henry of Britain hold intense contempt for each other. This feud has been ongoing for years. When it erupts into a public display of disdain, something has to be done. As a show of good relations, both families propose signs of peace—a fake friendship. Rather reluctantly, Alex and Henry get to know each other. Soon, their strong feelings of hatred turn into strong feelings of something more. It’s an enemies-to-lovers storyline, and it’s incredibly captivating.
The rom-com’s storyline is based on the 2019 book of the same name. Author Casey McQuiston created characters that have since garnered much love and attention from readers and critics alike.
The love story comes to Amazon Prime Video on August 11th, which is not soon enough for many eager fans. This film marks Tony award-winning playwright Matthew López’s writing and directing debut. López wrote the award-winning play The Inheritance.
The Cast of Red, White & Royal Blue
The cast of the film has both old and new faces. Taylor Zakhar Perez from The Kissing Booth 2 and Cruel Intentions stars as Alex, alongside Nicholas Galitzine, who plays Henry. Galitzine is most known for his roles in 2021’s Cinderella and Purple Hearts.
Veteran actress Uma Thurman plays Alex’s mother, Ellen Claremont, aka the first female president of the United States. Thurman was in the Kill Bill movies, Pulp Fiction, and many films.
Sarah Shahi takes on the role of Zahra Bankston, Alex’s handler. Shahi is best known for her roles in Black Adam, Sex/Life, and Person of Interest.
Talented actors and actresses fill this movie to the brim. Fans of the book are excited to see how the adaptation does their beloved Alex and Henry justice.
