With the upcoming release of their new series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Marvel announces a new collaborator in their huge and prominent list of names. Award-winning musical genius Raphael Saadiq becomes the new music producer for the upcoming series

What made Raphael Saadiq the perfect choice

Raphael Saadiq is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer. He played in mutliple bands: multiplatinum group Tony! Toni! Toné!, Lucy Pearl and The Ummah. He also released multiple records as a solo artist.

“I am proud to be working with Disney Branded Television on this groundbreaking new series featuring a female African American Marvel Super Hero, who is smart, funny, compassionate, and a born leader,” Saadiq said. “I look forward to helping the creative team bring the show to life through music.”

One of the aspects that identifies Saadiq music is his versatility and ability in representing multiple groups of people and genres. This is also become one of his main objectives with the series.

“There’s many genres of music in this show because New York City is a multicultural city with so many different things happening. It lends itself to so many different styles of classical, jazz, fusion, funk, hip-hop…”

The series originates form a Marvel comic book of the same name. The protagonist is the 13-year-old Lunella Lafayette (Moon Girl) with her beloved T-Rex, Devil Dinosaur. Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur will portray the adventures of the duo in New York City.

Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is will premiere on Disney Channel and Disney+ in 2023.
