Thanks to Global Citizen, fans of some of the most iconic names in music will get to see them all perform live (or via streaming) at the Power Our Planet: Live in Paris Festival set for the foot of the Eiffel Tower on June 22nd.
The even will be free but ticketed, so anyone wanting to go see the performances in real life will have to secure a spot to be in on the action. Others can tune into the event via global livestream across Global Citizen’s platforms on the same day. You can also see it on the Amazon Music Twitch account.
Headliners for the even include Billie Eilish, H.E.R., Lenny Kravitz, Jon Batiste, Ben Harper, Finneas, and Mosimann. The event is put together with a goal of getting financing from world leaders to fight climate change and poverty.
In a press release, Global Citizen co-founder and CEO Hugh Evans said, “Our world needs urgent change. Outdated global financial systems are perpetuating the conditions that keep vulnerable countries and their citizens trapped in the cycle of extreme poverty. We congratulate Ajay Banga on his appointment as President of the World Bank, and there is an urgent and immediate opportunity for him to show leadership the world truly needs.”
The French president, Emmanuel Macron, is also on board with the event, saying, “We need a world with more solidarity. Crises are multiplying and the number of those who place their hope in peace and multilateralism will only grow if we, as a global community, demonstrate that we are there to help the most vulnerable.”
Lenny Kravitz has long been a champion of environmental and sustainability causes, saying of the festival, “The next generation is inheriting a planet that’s being devastated by climate change. We have the power to change things with our voices and our actions. Join me on June 11, from wherever you are, and act today to save tomorrow.”
