Orville Peck Drops New Song for Netflix’s Hilda Series

Series Soundtrack

Orville Peck, the masked country musician, has a new song out. It’s a country lullaby for Netflix’s Hilda, the animated show that dropped its highly anticipated second season last week. While television shows have featured the ‘Dead of Night’ singer’s broody music before, this is his first song exclusively for a soundtrack.

Orville Peck’s 2020: Year of the Cowboy

Orville Peck has had, despite the year’s many setbacks for musicians, an amazing 2020. In early January, Apple Music named him Up Next Artist of the month. Within weeks, Peck made his late-night television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live. For his appearance, he performed ‘Dead of Night’ and ‘Take You Back’ from his freshman album, 2019’s Pony. Then in March, Pony earned a nomination for Alternative Album of the Year at the Juno Awards.

Peck continued his hot streak in the summer, recording his take on Bronski Beat’s ‘Smalltown Boy’ for Spotify Singles’ 2o20 Pride Celebration. That same month he won Breakthrough Artist and Best Country Album at the A2IM Libera Awards. Quite the honor, as the ceremony is the largest indie music award show in the world.

August saw his biggest contribution of the year: he released Show Pony, his sophomore album. The EP received critical acclaim and featured his biggest hit in the form of the country-pop collab, ‘Legends Never Die‘, with country music legend Shania Twain. In October, came the Orville Peck Rodeo, a virtual concert where he performed Show Pony’s songs live for the first time.

He’s finishing off strong, releasing both the single for Hilda as well as a mini-documentary titled ‘The Orville Peck Story’ about his rise to fame over the last two years.

You can hear a short segment of Orville Peck’s new song on his Twitter feed. The full version can be heard in episode 5 of the Hilda series. An official soundtrack release will be announced at a later date.
