Upon its release back in September 2023, Ryan Ulyate’s Act Three is good enough to receive a GRAMMY Nomination. Being Ulyate’s debut album, the music takes the listener on a forty-five-minute immersive audio journey. The album is inspired by the artist’s love for “concept albums,” such as Sgt. Pepper and Dark Side of the Moon. It’s produced especially for Dolby Atmos.
In September 2023, Ryan Ulyate made a post on Steve Hoffman’s Music Forum. “I wanted to do something that really took advantage of the sonic palette Atmos provides, so the album was created with immersive audio in mind from the beginning.” He said, “I wrote the songs, sang the vocals, played bass and keyboards. I brought in Steve Ferrone (from the Heartbreakers) to play drums and Josh Jové (from The Shelters) to play a LOT of very cool guitar parts. Steve Rucker (piano), Herb Pedersen (12 string acoustic) and Marc Mann (horn arrangement) also contributed.”
Ryan Ulyate and His Music
Ryan Ulyate has also worked with Tom Petty, George Harrison and ELO. He is a well-known music engineer who enjoys immersing his listeners in every one of his songs. His music is more within the realm of “Hi-Fi” or “Hi-Res” audio. Within his relationship with Tom Petty, the two have released a lot of memorable music since 2004. The most recent is a live version of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ greatest hits back in November 2022. The first album came out the month prior. The artist also got a chance to work with Mick Fleetwood and Friends, as well as Peter Green. Ryan Ulyate is also credited for his album Angel Dream, which included songs and music from the motion picture She Is The One.
Hopefully, Ulyate’s new album can win a GRAMMY for Best Immersive Audio Album in February. Act Three is only available on certain streaming services, such as Dolby Atmos, Apple Music and Tidal. It can also be downloaded on ImmersiveAudioAlbum.com.
