Miley Cyrus’ “Used To Be Young” May Be A New Series Too

“I know I used to be crazy,” she sings. “I know I used to be fun. You say I used to be wild. I say I used to be young.”

After releasing her self-reflective ballad, “Used To Be Young,” Miley Cyrus hints at a series with the same name. It’s the pop singer’s first new single since the March release of Endless Summer Vacation,  which featured the Billboard No. 1 hit single “Flowers.”

The new single arrives just before the 10th anniversary of Miley Cyrus’ 3x platinum album, Bangerz, which is home to nostalgic hits “Wrecking Ball,” “We Can’t Stop” and “Adore You.”

After her ABC special and single release, Cyrus hinted at a “series”– also called Used To Be Young –would be coming out and told fans to follow along on her TikTok page.

Miley’s New Single is at Her Strongest and Most Vulnerable

In an Instagram post, Cyrus revealed that she wrote the new release ‘almost 2 years ago at the beginning of my ESV.’ “It was at a time I felt misunderstood. I have spent the last 18 months painting a sonic picture of my perspective to share with you. The time has arrived to release a song that I could perfect forever,” she continued.

“Although my work is done, this song will continue to write itself everyday. The fact it remains unfinished is a part of its beauty. That is my life at this moment ….. unfinished yet complete.”

In a press release, Cyrus shed light to the lyrics’ depth and meaning. “This song is about honoring who we’ve been, loving who we are and celebrating who we will become. I feel proud when reflecting on my past and optimistic when thinking about the future. I am grateful to my loyal fans who make my dreams a reality daily. I am sincerely thankful for the stability of your steadfast support. This song is for you.”

Cyrus described the Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walter-directed video as ‘super emotional,’ calling herself a ‘mini-me of my mom.’ “We could see each other and as she was dancing it just made me cry, it made me laugh, it brought up so many real emotions and I think it’s really letting people into true emotion, which I don’t feel we get to see very much these days.”
