Miley Cyrus Teases Unreleased “You” on NYE

Miley Cyrus Ringing in the New Year

Miley Cyrus and Pete Davidson rang in the New Year together on NBC’s Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party Hosted By Miley Cyrus and Pete Davidson. The special included musical performances by Saweetie, Jack Harlow, Noah Cyrus and more. The true star of the night, however, was Miley herself. After singing some of her classics like “The Climb,” “Party in the U.S.A.,” and Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” with Noah, she treated fans to an unreleased song. Titled “You,” the stripped-back, vulnerable track showcases Miley‘s powerhouse vocals.

A Defining Moment

Miley Cyrus’ vocal chops impressed throughout the night, but her most defining moment came while singing “You.” She first sang softly over a backing piano, creating a (mostly) tame atmosphere. Her velvety voice rose until she reached her zenith: an electrifying chorus over an orchestra and fireworks. Miley’s vocal power is just as impressive as her lyricism. “You” is a heartfelt yearning for love, and the “Plastic Hearts” singer captures it perfectly. She croons, “I’m kinda crazy, ’cause that’s how you make me/ I don’t need Jesus, ’cause baby you saved me / I’m down /But only if it’s with you.”

“You” Is So New

After Cyrus posted a clip of her performance on her Instagram, fans were absolutely raving. Most called for it to be released on streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music. But Miley responded saying, “The song is so new I haven’t even recorded it yet. Just wanted to do something special for YOU all!”. We can only hope that she’ll take the advice of her fans and record it soon… we just can’t get enough!

Miley Cyrus and Pete Davidson’s New Year’s Eve Special was nothing short of spectacular, and her performance of “You” sent it over the top. What do you think of her unreleased track? Let us know in the comments!
