Mickey Guyton hosted the National Christmas Tree Lighting this year. Though the ceremony took place on November 30th, the televised special is broadcasting on December 15th.
According to the event’s official website, “CBS will broadcast the 2023 National Christmas Tree Lighting on December 15th, offering a special opportunity to friends and families across the country to tune in and celebrate this holiday tradition from the comfort of home.”
It is also streaming on Paramount+. This year was the 101st National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Quite the celebration!
Mickey Guyton Hosts
According to the event’s website, “Guyton made history as the first Black artist to earn a Grammy Award-nomination for Best Country Album. The title track, “Remember Her Name,” was also nominated for Best Country Song and Best Country Solo performance. Guyton was also the first-ever Black female solo artist to earn a Grammy Award nomination in the country category (Best Country Solo Performance) for her song “Black Like Me,” which she performed at the 2021 Grammy Awards ceremony.”
Along with Gutyon, expect special appearances by Dionne Warwick, St. Vincent, Joe Walsh, Darren Criss and more.
According to CBS’ synopsis, “First celebrated in 1923 by President Calvin Coolidge, the National Christmas Tree Lighting continues to inspire people everywhere to pause to enjoy cherished traditions and memories made with family and friends in national parks during the holiday season. The CBS special offers a unique opportunity for friends and families across the country to tune in and celebrate this holiday tradition from the comfort of their homes.”
White Rose Way Entertainment produced the ceremony. Leon Knoles served as the special’s director and as the executive producer with Kristi Foley. Renato Basile also produced the special. Nathan East served as the music producer. Lindsay Saunders Carl produced talent, Thom Peachee supervised staging, and John Zuiker designed the production.
