With the latest Marvel cape flick, Thor: Love and Thunder being out to… mixed reviews I think it’s time to reach common ground. What is that common ground where critics and audiences can agree is pretty damn good? Is it the visuals? The story? The characters? Nope! It’s the soundtrack, baby! Let’s get into what Michael Giacchino has done for the latest Thor movie.
Electric Epicness by Michael Giacchino:
Our Lord and savior Michael Giacchino has returned! For those of you who don’t recognize the name. Michael Giacchino is the composer for a multitude of childhood classics like The Incredibles, Up, and Ratatouille. Aside from those, he’s also done the soundtracks for the phenomenally successful Spider-Man: No Way Home! After that, he went on to compose the criminally underutilized score for The Batman.
Which brings us to Thor: Love and Thunder. The second outing from director, Taika Waititi, where we follow Thor as he struggles to find a new purpose after the events of Avengers: Endgame. The style is the same as Ragnarok, being more so a comedy with moments of drama then a straight action flick or mystery. Meaning that the soundtrack needs to be as energetic, fun, but as somber as can be. I’m happy to report that it’s exactly that! With fun names to boot, this soundtrack is something that everyone can love. Synth, classic rock, and piano focused tracks are all spread throughout. Making this one an absolute banger.
If you haven’t already, go check out Thor: Love and Thunder in theaters. If you don’t want to, that’s totally cool! Make sure to at least check out the soundtrack on Spotify! That’s it for now. For more on your favorites and unknown check out our Word and Drops sections.
