Maren Morris Channels her Inner Rockstar on “Nervous”

Maren Morris Gets Bold and Bluesy on Latest Single

Country star Maren Morris shows us an edgier side on her latest drop, “Nervous.” It’s the third single from her upcoming album, Humble Quest, which arrives March 25 via Columbia Nashville. She previously dropped the singles, “Circles Around This Town” and “Background Music.” Humble Quest is the follow-up to Morris’ 2019 record, GIRL. Later on in 2019, Morris joined Amanda Shires, Brandi Carlile, and Natalie Hemby to form The Highwomen. The group released a self-titled album, met with incredible acclaim. But Maren Morris is ready to wow us with more solo material. And if Humble Quest has the captivating nature that she showed us on “Nervous;” this album will be a highlight of Morris’ discography.

The vocals and production on “Nervous” are rough around the edges, which is fitting for the moody, bluesy inspired track. You can hear the tense, anxious strumming of the reverb heavy guitar as Morris croons, “You make me nervous.” The song steadily builds up with each verse before exploding into the screaming chorus. “It was the first time I felt like I took the training wheels off in a long time and just got to belt it,” Morris says. Above all, “Nervous” is about being completely overtaken by your attraction to another person. It’s about being so infatuated with someone, it scares you. Check out the song below.
