Lights Recruits Elohim For “Real Thing”

Canadian singer-songwriter Lights recruited electropop star Elohim for “Real Thing,” their newest single.

Lights and Elohim Show Off Their Friendship on “Real Thing”

On “Real Thing,” the musicians unite to sing about wanting to find that person who you can – literally – have a “real thing” with, otherwise known as having a serious relationship with someone you can trust. “Everyday I try, it gets a little harder. Tryna keep my head, head above water. Stumbling, fumbling, falling to my knees. Praying I will get a better day please…I’m looking for the real thing. Always looking for the real thing. But tell me, is the real thing. Even a real thing?” they wonder in the song.

The accompanying music video for “Real Thing” features both Lights and Elohim just having fun while going bike riding and rollerblading in the middle of nowhere surrounded by beautiful mountains. All while wearing a wedding gown, both stars have the time of their lives hanging out by themselves; looking like two real best friends.

Lights expanded on the track, “‘Real Thing’ challenges the traditional concept of ‘The one for you.’ I don’t think it actually exists, but we are predominantly sold this idea that we need to find one person, lock them in forever, and you can’t change and grow. We’re always looking for the real thing, but it’s not always fing real. Elohim and I had a really fun couple of days working at her spot in LA writing this track. She is a virtuoso!”

Lights is Off to a Headline Tour This Year

Back in November, Lights announced the 13-date Baby I’m Back North American headline tour, referencing to the time she has been out of the spotlight. The month-long tour kicks off April 3 in Portland, OR, making stops at The Fonda in Los Angeles and New York City’s Irving Plaza before wrapping up in Toronto, Ontario on May 7th. Tickets for all dates are available now and you can find them at Lights’ official website here.
