Lady Gaga Drops “Hold My Hand” From “Top Gun: Maverick” Soundtrack

Global genre-bending artist Lady Gaga released her new track “Hold My Hand” which is featured in the new Top Gun: Maverick movie soundtrack.

Lady Gaga is Back to Writing & Producing Solo Music

Ahead of Top Gun: Maverick’s release date on May 27, Lady Gaga is making fans excited about the upcoming movie’s soundtrack. Her new song “Hold My Hand” is featured throughout the film; and also marks Gaga’s return to writing and producing solo music.

Gaga’s last taste of new music was her 2021 album alongside Tony Bennett Love For Sale, which also arrived as Bennett’s farewell album. Now, Gaga is back better than ever, and she produced “Hold My Hand” herself alongside BloodPop and Benjamin Rice.

“Hold My Hand” arrived with a music video that offers a teaser of the upcoming movie. In it, we see Gaga playing the piano and performing the song; while film scenes featuring Tom Cruise take over our screens.

Overall, the song is a flawless start to the Top Gun: Maverick soundtrack. It describes the pain of having someone right in front of your eyes who’s suffering; and knowing that there is nothing anyone can do to help but be there for that person. “So cry tonight. But don’t you let go of my hand. You can cry every last tear. I won’t leave ’til I understand. Promise you’ll just hold my hand,” Gaga sings in the chorus.

“Hold My Hand” is a Love Letter to the World

“When I wrote this song for Top Gun: Maverick, I didn’t even realize the multiple layers it spanned across the film’s heart,” Gaga says. “My own psyche, and the nature of the world we’ve been living in. I’ve been working on it for years, perfecting it, trying to make it ours. I wanted to make music into a song where we share our deep need to both be understood and try to understand each other—a longing to be close when we feel so far away and an ability to celebrate life’s heroes.”

She continues, “I’m so grateful to Tom and Hans and Joe for this opportunity—and it’s been a beautiful experience working with them. Me, BloodPop, Ben Rice, and everyone else who worked on it with us are so excited to share it with you. This song is a love letter to the world during and after a very hard time.”
