This past Friday, the lead vocalist of Brockhampton, Kevin Abstract, dropped a track with the help of some special guest. “SLUGGER” is the first solo of Kevin’s in 2021, and features British indie artists slowthai and rapper $NOT.
It marks the rapper’s first new solo material since 2019’s Arizona Baby .
The track follows up to the recently released group project of Brockhampton. They dropped Roadrunner: A New Light, New Machine back in early June. And after releasing the date for their tour, Abstract himself took to twitter to hint at band’s end.
also this question kinda sad but – what are u hoping for out of the last bh album ?

Now Kevin is here going solo and even though the group isn’t with him, there is still that iconic BH sound. In addition to the unique and distorted instrumentals and sample, all the musicians on the track really makes it dope.
Kevin’s creativity in how he used his voice is great and he has some good bars and melody to bump with. $NOT comes in pretty solid with his flow, but after awhile he starts to fall off. slowthai helps save the song at the end with a huge burst of his odd energy and unique flow.
Overall the single is a great reminder of how good each member of Brockhampton is alone. Kevin Abstract has shown he’s able to be successful solo as well as collaborate with all kinds of artists.
As the Brockhampton Era comes to a close, I’m sure that we will be seeing more from Kevin as a solo artist along with other members of the group. But don’t count the rap group out just yet, they still have plenty of life left before their departure.
