Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” Reaches n.1 after 37 years

Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” (A Deal with God) hits the charts after 37 years. Thanks to Netflix tv series Stranger Things, the song hit the charts and is headed to a first position on the Billboard Global 200 Chart.

Stranger Things pushes Kate Bush back to the top

Stealing the first position from Harry Styles’ 2022 hit “As It Was,” Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” not only returns to the charts, but also strikes a first position almost 40 years since its release.
The singer, who’s never been in the top 10 in the US til now, said she is thankful to both Stranger Things and the US for the love she is receiving.

I’ve never experienced anything quite like this before!” said Bush commenting the huge comeback of her song. “I just want to say a really big thank you to everyone in the U.S. who has supported the song. It’s the first time I’ve had a top ten single over there and now it’s in the top 5! Thank you so much again to the Duffer Brothers – because of their latest, extraordinary series of Stranger Things, the track is being discovered by a whole new audience.”

Reaching the first position in the Spotify Top Songs – Global chart and second in the Top 50 – Global, the song marked a new record for Kate Bush. The artist also reached a fourth position on the Billboard Hot 100. The song positioned after Future feat Drake & Tems’s Wait For U (3), Jack Harlow’s viral First Class (2) and unstoppable Harry Styles’ As It Was.

After the glorious comeback of the 80s hit, Kim Petras decided to jump in the music trend by releasing her personal interpretation of the comeback track.

German singer and songwriter, Petras decided to honour Kate Bush’ single. Together with Amazon Music, the artist collaborated for the Amazon Music’s global playlist Proud. In fact, Amazon created the playlist to celebrate the Pride Month.

Commenting the cover, Petras said that she is “obsessed with “Running Up That Hill.”She added: “It means so much and it’s so elusive. You can definitely decide what you want it to mean. For me, it’s about equality. And my timing for this was strangely perfect!”
