“This song is about being able to release people with love,” Uchis shares about the track “It could be a friend, a lover, or someone else, but the point is to celebrate releasing people from your life without being resentful or bitter.” Along with the song, Kali released the music video, which is a combination of dream-like clips filled with roses, the color pink, and Kali looking like a goddess!

The Self-Made Star
Actually, Kali’s career dates back to 2012 with the release of her mixtape Drunken Babble. In 2018, Kali dropped her debut studio album, Isolation, which received widespread praise. However, before the popularity and fame, Kali went through a lot. In an interview with BBC, Kali told the story of how at the age of 17 she was living out of her car. The “Melting” singer was a rebellious teenager and was kicked out for repeatedly breaking her curfew. In fact, according to BBC, “Her rebellious streak first started to cause problems two years earlier, when she’d begun skipping class to spend time making experimental short films and working on her music.”
However, the perk to her skipping class was her being able to dive into something she loved; music. Her mixtape Drunken Babble received attention from many bigger names, like Snoop Dogg, Tyler, The Creator, and Gorillaz. She made an appearance on each of their albums, which caught the attention of many people and put her name out there even more. Her mesmerizing voice is hard to ignore.
Moreover, Kali Uchis currently has three albums out, and has racked millions of views on YouTube. One of her most notable songs, “telepatía,” became a worldwide hit. She definitely created the dream life for herself with her music! Currently, she is dating rapper/singer Don Toliver, who she made a song with: “Drugs N’ Hella Melodies.” Additionally, she has claimed in 2022 to have even more projects put out for her fans. For instance, she revealed a possible collab with Ariana Grande in a TikTok live back in September. We can’t wait to see what’s to come!
