Kali Uchis is Opulent and Dreamy in “ORQUÍDEAS”

The Colombian American artist told Rolling Stone, “I feel like every song really is its own era and its own aesthetic,” when discussing her fourth album.

ORQUÍDEAS

Kali Uchis just dropped her newest album, ORQUÍDEAS, last Friday (January 12). ORQUÍDEAS follows her 2023 album, Red Moon In Venus. It continues Uchis’ songwriting choice to combine English and Spanish in her songs, with Spanish dominating. However, this album takes Uchis’ artistry to another level.

ORQUÍDEAS has multiple enticing collaborations. From Peso Pluma to El Alfa and JT to Karol G to Rauw Alejandro, Uchis’ fourth album has a nice amount of features and special guests for its songs.

In a Rolling Stone interview, Kali Uchis broke down her new album, including the many collaborations. “I feel like every song really is its own era and its own aesthetic,” she said.

Uchis’ point of view doesn’t need justification, as the songs speak for themselves. Each one has such similar sounds and vibes with the one following it. The songs have a beautiful order and placement in the album. They create a fluid, continuous experience. Yet, they are also all able to stand on their own, individually.

Kali Uchis’ Pregnancy

On Thursday, January 11, the day before ORQUÍDEAS came out, Kali Uchis announced her pregnancy with Don Toliver. In the caption of the Instagram reel revealing her pregnancy, the singer writes a message to her future child. “Starting our family❤️‍🩹 don’t take too long to get here little pooks, mom & dad can’t wait to share our life with you.”

We offer her and Don Toliver our sincerest congratulations on the exciting news.

“Tu Corazón Es Mío / Diosa” Music Video

On the same night ORQUÍDEAS came out, a music video for the songs “Tu Corazón Es Mío” and “Diosa” was also released. The first half of the music video, for the song “Tu Corazón Es Mío,” showcases home videos for Uchis and Toliver. Those are interspersed with videos of the couple together during her pregnancy now. In the second half of the video, for “Diosa,” Kali Uchis is celebrating herself and her body with luxurious, moody shots.
