Justin Bieber makes history! The global star has become the first-ever artist to achieve the staggering amount of 90 million Spotify monthly listeners.
The Number Grows to 94 Million
According to Chart Data earlier in December, Justin had reached 91 million monthly listeners. But now, as we kick off 2022, Spotify currently shows that the number has increased to an astonishing 94.4 million.
Currently, Ed Sheeran sits in the number two position with 84.4 million monthly listeners, while Ariana Grande (79.5M) The Weeknd (77.7M), and Dua Lipa (66.9M) round out the rest of the Top Five.
Finalizing the top 10 most listened artists in Spotify at the moment, Elton John is number 6 at 65.5M, Coldplay (63.8M), Mariah Carey (62.4M), Adele (61.9M), and Taylor Swift (59.3M).
A Staggering Year For Justin
Justin released his sixth studio album Justice back in March 2021; which featured the big hits “Holy,” “Lonely,” “Anyone,” “Hold On,” “Ghost” and “Peaches” featuring Daniel Caesar and Giveon. Almost right after, he followed up with the Freedom. EP just one week later.
But that’s not everything that Justin did in 2021. Besides dropping those big hits that were on the radio all year, he also released two more versions of Justice. The first one, “Triple Chucks Deluxe” arrived at the same time as the Freedom EP and the last and biggest version, “The Complete Edition” landed in October, with a total of 25 huge songs.
Besides working on his solo career and projects, he also joined other artists such as Skrillex for “Don’t Go,” The Kid LAROI for one of the summer’s biggest hits on “STAY,” and most recently, the posthumous Juice WRLD track “Wandered To LA.”
Earlier in 2021, Bieber broke another Spotify record, when it was revealed he had racked up 83.3 million listeners in August. It marked the first time an artist had achieved that number, which has been surpassed by his new record.
