Last week, indie pop rocker JAWNY released some brand new music ahead of a release coming very soon. The song, “Take It Back” is one of the first release for his new project, and this is the first new music that’s coming since his last October.
Take me back is a Grundy 90’s indie track reminiscent of Beck. In addition, the video shows the songwriter rocking out on the back of a trash truck.
It seems like more and more people with an unapologetically punk sound are treading, JAWNY is no different. His brash and unpolished sound make him standout, and his talent isn’t going unnoticed.
After his 2019 single, “Honeypie” blew up, the California native began to see recognition. Later on in 2020, JAWNY would end up signing a deal with Interscope Records.
From there, he made his major-label debut with the mixtape For Abby in late October 2020. The 10-track studio album didn’t get the young artist too much traction but it certainly wasn’t a bad start. The album showcased JAWNY’s ability to tell stories and his range as an indie-pop rocker.
JAWNY’s New Project
But, after having almost a year to hone his craft and many songs made along the way, JAWNY is ready to drop his sophomore project. Last week after dropping the music video, he announced the title for his album as well as when it will be dropping.
The Story Of Hugo, set for release on July 15. Although, we don’t have the full track-list, six songs have already been revealed with two already released. “Best Thing” and “Take It Back” are the headlining singles for the project with one more to be dropped before the official release.
Be also on the lookout for JAWNY to perform later next month at Lollapalooza. As of right now he set to perform on July 29 in Chicago.
