There’s no duo quite as dynamic as iann dior and Lil Uzi Vert. Fans of the two have been hyped over iann’s new single with Uzi since he teased it on his Instagram last month. “V12” is the emo-rap collaboration we didn’t know we needed, and that’s why it’s featured here on New Music Monday.
The Single is On a Different Level
“V12” is produced by Taz Taylor, Nick Mira, and Cxdy, with both dior and Uzi credited as songwriters. The track begins with a dive into iann’s vocal prowess and continues into the chorus. Part of the appeal of iann dior is his ability to switch between smooth singing and entertaining raps. Uzi, an absolute rap legend, takes “V12” to whole a new level with his feature. Lil Uzi Vert establishes his own dominance on the second verse, rapping “Hot, hot, don’t forget who did this shit first / I’m a be this way ’til in a hearse”. We know Uzi pioneered the genre of emo rap, and it’s refreshing to see new players like iann enter the game.
A Trippy Music Video
To fans’ delight, “V12” has an accompanying music video, directed by dior himself. Featuring Uzi and his bedazzled forehead, “V12” takes us on a neon trip. Uzi and iann mess around on camera for the majority of the video, with a few psychedelic effects sprinkled in.
More to Come
It’s been a groundbreaking year for the young iann dior. His collaboration with 24kGoldn on “Mood” peaked at #1 on the charts, while fans also enjoyed “shots in the dark” with Trippie Redd. Uzi, as expected, has been busy this year himself. First bedazzling his head, then announcing his “P!NK” tape, and creating a clothing line. Undoubtedly, the pair make a powerful duo, and perhaps represent the old and new faces of emo rap.
