Halsey has had a big year. From releasing a new album to recording a documentary, and even becoming a mother. The NME Awards surely acknowledge her efforts, as she will be recognized with the Innovation Award at the 2022 ceremony.
Halsey Wasn’t Expecting to Receive the Recognition
The ceremony will be making its comeback after a one-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 ongoing pandemic. In next year’s ceremony, Halsey will be honored with this recognition; which previously, the likes of The 1975, Bring Me The Horizon and Boy Better Know have received.
Halsey shared, “The BandLab NME Awards 2022 seems more about a celebration of a bunch of people who are contemporaries rooting each other on. I don’t get many opportunities to celebrate with my peers and look around and be like; ‘Wow, this was a great year for music and that’s why we do this – we love it, y’know?”
Speaking in this week’s Big Read cover interview, Halsey told NME that she “wasn’t expecting” the award and was “very surprised” to be recognized with the nod. “But it’s really, really awesome. I think you start to get really sad and nervous about how your music connects when you’re not around to bring it to life. To know that it’s still resonating is really, really cool.”

The NME Awards Are Back
Holly Bishop, Chief Operating & Commercial Officer at NME Networks, said: “In February 2020, as we sat back in the usual post-NME Awards haze, we had no idea that ours was to be one of the closing events of the year.
