With a catalog like HAIM’s, all performances are expected to be top notch. Their upcoming one for Music On A Mission will surely be no different.
Falling In Love With HAIM
For almost 15 years HAIM has been a pop rock band with fans of all ages and backgrounds. Since 2012, though, the group has been a pop culture phenomenon. Three sisters who are all Musical prodigies? That doesn’t happen often. Sibling bands that are truly talented are few and far between, and the few that come to mind aren’t even female. (The Jonas Brothers, Hanson, Good Charlotte, etc.)
HAIM consists of three sisters, Este, Danielle, and Alana. Born and raised in Los Angeles, the girls were surrounded by arts and culture from day one. It only helps that their parents have many musical skills. Starting from childhood, the sisters performed in a cover band with their parents leading the group. As they got older, they branched out into their own artistry. About nine years ago, the Haim sisters decided to take the leap and do music seriously. No more were they the children in some local cover band, but dedicated musicians.
As artists determined to hone their craft, they cut their teeth at Austin, Texas’ iconic South by Southwest. From there, they signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation and have been winning awards and sharing their talent around the world. Their passion has carried them for the last decade or so. It led them to critical acclaim, sold out tours, and stellar musical friends and collaborators.
Working with HAIM
Their influences range from Beyonce to Fleetwood Mac – and fans can tell. Every song is soft rock with pop melodies and incredible guitar riffs. The sisters play all their own instruments on just about every one of their songs off their three full length records. All three sing, but Este also plays bass, Danielle plays guitar and drums, while Alana’s on guitar and keyboards.
Most recently, the Haim sisters were on two songs with Taylor Swift. Considered one of the most notable singer-songwriters of all time and the Queen of Pop, the collaborations were fast hits.
On Haim’s 2020, Grammy-nominated record Women In Music Part III, Taylor Swift is featured on “Gasoline.” The track has racked up over 4.2 million streams on Spotify alone. This is an incredible feat, but nothing new for the likes of HAIM nor Taylor Swift. The sisters were featured on Taylor Swift’s critically acclaimed record evermore. The song, “no body, no crime,” has almost 67 million streams on Spotify and was the record’s second single. Another obvious hit and fan favorite from the rocking LA sisters and Nashville pop star’s crossover.
Music On A Mission Is This Friday!
The award-winning, multi-talented sisters are joining the Music On A Mission lineup. Live performances will be between archival footage from the Recording Academy. The academy has partnered with Musicares to raise money for COVID-19 relief in and out of the music industry.
Some of the archival footage includes moments from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Stevie Nicks. Some of the new performances include BTS, Carole King, John Legend, and fellow sibling band, the Jonas Brothers. The list of performers goes on and on and ranges in genre and era, meaning that everyone can join in on the musical fun and good cause. Time just so happens to be one of the most notable and highly-anticipated of the event. (Which comes just two days before the Grammys, where the sisters are up for their second and third Grammy awards.)
Tickets are $25 for Friday’s Music On A Mission virtual concert. Fans can get them and learn more about the event, as well as a charity component, online.
