London-based artist Flowerovlove has released a hypnotic new single, Love You, on February 9th, just in time for Valentine’s Day. Love You is a nostalgic, bubblegum indie pop song that encapsulates the universal feeling of being loved and being in love. The song is her first release of 2023 after her last single, Hannah Montana in June of 2022. It’s a daydream reduced into 3 minutes of promises and confidence, all wrapped up in a shiny pink bow.

If a song could resemble sunset skies and seeing the world through rose-colored glasses, it would be Love You. Flowerovlove is a lo-fi stronghold with a knack for letting your mind blissfully drift away while listening to her music. She has a way of delivering her songs with a sense of hazy nostalgia. To add on, the lyrics are simple and relatable to anyone listening. And maybe that’s exactly what the music industry right now. Flowerovlove keeps it straight-forward and honest, a beacon of light, if only for a few short minutes.

Joyce Cisse

Singer-songwriter Flowerovlove, or Joyce Cisse, is an up-and-coming force in the indie scene, with a talent that far exceeds her only 17 years of age. It’s no surprise that Cisse has been writing since she was only 10 years old. As a result, her songs possess a mature, melodramatic tone that stems from her years of experience. Her discography dates back to 2020, beginning with her first single, Kiss & Chase. There’s definitive growth from her first releases versus where she is at now. This growth must be one of the contributing factors to Cisse receiving her first award. Named Vevo’s Artist to Watch in 2023, Flowerovlove is a Gen Z delicacy, producing songs that are sure to soundtrack teenage dreams for years to come.

By and large, Flowerovlove is a rising star and a much-needed breath of fresh air. Joyce Cisse seems to be sweetly demanding a place at the table, and her name is just one indication of the way that she is blooming within the music industry. If Love You is any sneak peek into what 2023 holds for Flowerovlove, then the future is looking bright.
