Troye Sivan announces his first full-length album in five years, Something To Give Each Other, with the euphoric single “Rush.” The song is Sivan’s lead single from his upcoming third album, Something To Give Each Other, out October 14.
“‘Rush’ is the feeling of kissing a sweaty stranger on a dancefloor, a 2 hour date that turned into a weekend, a crush, a winter, a summer,” the 28-year-old explains. “Party after party, after party after after party. All of my experiences from a chapter where I feel confident, free and liberated. Independent, yet somehow the most connected to the music and community around me.”
The music video for “Rush” is a modern (more queer and palatably offensive) retelling of Britney Spears’ “Slave 4 U.” Fueled by the “twink” renaissance, the video rides heavily on subculture hyperboles and fantasies served up by sweaty, toned, and choreographed men slapping their bare bums. “Rush” is an overtly-exaggerated ode to people feeling the joy of life and sex. All with something to give each other.
On the flip side, Troye’s creative director, Gordon von Stein, produced iconic music video fashion moments like Jean Paul Gaultier’s 1997 “Fight Racism” red jeans.
Recently, Sivan wowed TV-goers as the shrewd and scarred Xander in HBO’s controversial drama series The Idol, starring Abel Tesfaye, Lily Rose-Depp and BLACKPINK’s Jennie. He was featured in campaigns for Cartier, YSL Beauty, Calvin Klein and Beyoncé’s Ivy Park. Soon, Troye will launch Tsu Lange Yor, an independent luxury lifestyle collection of fragrances and art-driven objects.
