Khalid is simply an amazing songwriter and singer. You might have heard his singles ‘Young, dumb and broke’ and ‘Location,’ which were released on his debut album American Teen. The album was actually certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America! (RIAA).

Despite his young age (He’s only 22!) he has gained great recognition from the industry and has collaborated with big artists. Some of them are Billie Eilish, Calvin Harris, Marshmello, Post Malone, Shawn Mendes, Martin Garrix, Ed Sheeran, Pink, and Alicia Keys. Again, just to mention a few!
In 2018, he dropped the songs ‘Love Lies’ alongside Normani and ‘Eastside’ alongside Benny Blanco and Halsey. Both of them tied the record for longest-charting songs on the Mainstream Top 40 chart and reached the top-10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In April 2019, he released his second studio album, Free Spirit, which debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart. The lead single ‘Talk’ peaked at number 3 in the US. It also earned him a Grammy Award for Record of the Year nomination.
His talent, of course, hasn’t gone unnoticed. Khalid has received multiple accolades. They include six Grammy Award nominations, six Billboard Music Awards, three American Music Awards, and one MTV Video Music Award. In 2019, Time Magazine named him one of the 100 Most Influential People.
Khalid sold out every venue on his 21-city January–February 2017 Location Tour, including the 1,500-capacity Tricky Falls in El Paso. Following the completion of the tour, his debut studio album American Teen was released on March 3 of the same year. The album received critical acclaim and Grammy Award nominations for Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best R&B Song (for ‘Location’), at the 2018 ceremony. In 2017, he won a VMA Award for Best New Artist.
His song ‘Youth’ alongside Shawn Mendes captured a lot of attention thanks to its significance. The duo wrote the song as a tribute to victims of gun violence.
