For most, 2020 was a year of stress, confusion, chaos, and isolation. For Gabby Barrett, it was a year of success, exhilaration, warmth, and family. The 21-year-old country singer (and former American Idol contestant) had not one, but two record-breaking singles. She also had a chart-topping debut album, an outstanding duet with pop star Charlie Puth, multiple platinum certifications, and – surprise! – a baby. That’s right, while riding the high of her career, Gabby Barrett had a baby, daughter Baylah May, with her husband, Cade Foehner.
The icing on the top of the cake is her ACM win. The first-time nominee quickly became a first-time winner. On April 8, 2021, Barrett was awarded New Female Artist of the Year by the Academy of Country Music. After the past year, no other star deserved it more than her.
