The multi-platinum American Idol winner Jordin Sparks leaves 2022 with many music and publicity opportunities including, new singles and competing on Dancing With The Stars. But the the 33- year-old Grammy-nominee closes the year as Cantu Beauty’s newest Brand Ambassador. 2022 was the Year of Sparks.
Starting the year right, Jordin Sparks is this week’s Featured Artist Friday. Music Daily cannot wait to see where 2023 takes the singer-songwriter.
Her Big 2023 Singles
Her latest release, “dna” with Maurice Moore is a magical love story wrapped in great songwriting. In the second verse, Sparks sings, “My heart was closed then / You opened up a part of me / I didn’t think that I could reach / Too many emotions; my heart is overflowing.” A R&B slow burner carried by a sad symphony, it is touching.
On the flipside, “Stop This Feeling” is a funky celebration. She took to Instagram to gush about its good vibes. “I’m so proud of this one—Time to feel and dance again! I hope you enjoy and feel all the love, energy and excitement that’s in this song!”
But this year was a lot of music memories for the star. In March, she held a plaque reading 2 Million Records Sold for writing “The Way,” recorded by Ariana Grande and Mac Miller. May 23 is a vigil day as Sparks remembers the day she won the sixth season of American Idol in May 2007. And, in June, Sparks’s sophomore album, Battlefield, turned 13 years-old.
Televised Performances
While a year highlight may have been competing on Dancing With The Stars, she squeezed the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade into her schedule. She coasted down the many avenues on a float jamming to her new dance single “Stop This Feeling.” Check out the performance below.
The parade featured a few Broadway performers from Lea Michele and the cast of Broadway’s Funny Girl, Broadway’s Beautiful Noise, Some Like It Hot and The Lion King. But they also had A-list performers like Paula Abdul, Mariah Carey, Kirk Franklin, Sean Paul and Big Time Rush.
After getting more than halfway through the competition, Sparks got eliminated from Dancing With The Stars on Halloween night. It is her second reality competition show since being crowned the winner of American Idol in 2007. (She appeared in the star-studded The Masked Singer in 2021.) With TV Insider, she said, she wants to return to Dancing With The Stars, but sing and host only. She even went on Good Morning America! to promote the show with Charlie D’Amelio.
Jordin Sparks: The Brand Ambassador
The “No Air” singer made sure to leave her mark in 2022 by partnering with the company Cantu Beauty. Sparks, a long-time customer, stepped into the Brand Ambassador position to spotlight the brand’s community initiatives that give back to young women all over the world, specifically with the brand’s partnership with global nonprofit, Women Empowering Nations.
In a statement, she says, “”It’s a dream to be working with Cantu to help uplift the next generation of women who are on their own unique and powerful journeys to building their bright futures. Beyond the products, Cantu really does so much for the community specifically for women empowerment in which I am super passionate about.”
