Featured Artist: Noah Kahan Dominated The Charts With “Stick Season”

This past year, indie-folk artist Noah Kahan climbed the charts with his latest song, “Dial Drunk,” and we still can’t get enough.

Noah Kahan’s “Dial Drunk” Debut

If you’ve scrolled on TikTok within the past couple of weeks, then there’s a good chance you’ve stumbled upon Noah Kahan. Between his top song, “Stick Season,” with over 171 million streams on Spotify, and “Dial Drunk,” Kahan has taken over in the indie-folk scene. “Dial Drunk” comes as a surprise addition to Noah’s 2022 album, Stick Season. On June 9th, he dropped the highly anticipated Stick Season (We’ll Be Alright) deluxe album featuring seven new tracks. And with this new album came widespread attention and recognition.

“Dial Drunk” earned Noah Kahan his first Billboard 100 debut, coming in at #43. This is also the highest-ranking debut in the Billboard 100, further emphasizing its significance. Though this isn’t the first time Kahan has graced the charts, it is notably a standout track. Without collaborations with artists like Julia Michaels (“Hurt Somebody”) and Joy Oladokun (“We’re All Gonna Die” and “Someone Like You”), “Dial Drunk” stands alone as a testament to Kahan’s artistry as an independent artist.

“Thanks to the re-release, the album (with all versions combined into one listing for charting and tracking purposes) vaults from No. 100 to No. 3 on the Billboard 200 (in its 29th total week on the chart) with 71,000 equivalent album units earned. Stick becomes Kahan’s first top 10 on the all-genre chart, while also hitting No. 1 on the Top Rock AlbumsTop Alternative Albums and Americana/Folk Albums charts for the first time.”

Folk Malone Collaborate on “Dial Drunk”

Kahan’s music can be described as a fusion of folk, pop and indie-rock, with his soulful voice and poignant lyrics taking center stage. His introspective and relatable songwriting resonates with listeners, tackling themes of love, loss and self-discovery. He’s also known for his live performances, captivating audiences with his raw and emotive stage presence.

Moreover, if Kahan wasn’t popular before, then he definitely is now. On July 17th, Noah Kahan and Post Malone teamed up on a new version of “Dial Drunk.” Kahan had been teasing the song across social media platforms, building up the anticipation for the track for some time. Dubbing himself as “folk malone,” this doesn’t come as a surprise to fans that have been around for a while. Nonetheless, it’s an exciting collaboration that bridges the gap between two iconic performers.
