Faye Webster Releases “Car Therapy” from Upcoming EP

Cover of "Car Therapy"Faye Webster is known for blending genres like folk and R&B to create her own unique sound. But she’s surprising us by adding another genre to her repertoire. Faye Webster has gifted us the beautiful, orchestral “Car Therapy” from her upcoming Car Therapy Sessions EP. The EP includes reimagined orchestral versions of songs from 2021’s I Know I’m Funny haha as well as 2019’s Atlanta Millionaires Club. The Car Therapy Sessions EP is set to arrive on April 29. She’ll play at Shaky Knees Festival in her hometown of Atlanta that same day before embarking on tour supporting Haim.

The Celestial Sounding Heartbreak of “Car Therapy”

The music video for “Car Therapy” shows Faye at Spacebomb Studios recording vocals in the booth with an orchestra accompanying her,  arranged and conducted by Trey Pollard. She’s wearing a light, cerulean chiffon dress with matching hairpieces tying her braids. The video captures the simple perfection Faye Webster does so effortlessly. Her voice, although reserved, harnesses intense power with her tone and diction. The orchestral instrumentation is not in Webster’s usual wheelhouse but makes the track her own with her voice smoothly and softly gliding over the strings. She sounds angelic, but the subject matter at hand is heartbreak. At around the 2:50 mark, the song explodes into a soaring, celestial bridge before Faye brings us back down to her helpless state. “I can barely take care of myself”, she repeats.
