The Emmys, the awards for artistic and technical merit in United States television, just released the Emmy nominations for 2022 awards.
Here are some of the most interesting Emmy nominations:
This year’s most nominated series is Succession with 25 nods. Ted Lasso and The White Lotus (20), Hacks and Only Murders in the Building (17) and Euphoria (16) followed.
The person who received the most nomination is Bill Hader, with four nominations for performance, writing and directing for Barry and performance for Curb Your Enthusiasm. Zendaya received three for performance and two nods for music and lyrics for Euphoria.
Moreover, Pam & Tommy, a series about Pamela Anderson and Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, received 10 nominations. Both Sebastian Stan and Lily James received a nomination as well for their performances in the series.
Other individuals with multiple nominations this year include Jason Bateman, Quinta Brunson, Nicole Byer, Jerrod Carmichael, Julia Garner, Steve Martin, Amy Poehler, Rhea Seehorn, Harriet Walter and Sydney Sweeney (two first-time nominations, Euphoria and The White Lotus) received multiple nominations as well.
A look in music related awards
The Beatles: Get Back (Disney+), is nominated for Outstanding Documentary (series). It is the THIRD Beatles production to receive a nomination! Just like the Beatles’ series, voters gave a nomination also for We Need to Talk About Cosby for being an outstanding documentary or nonfiction series.
Controlling Britney Spears (New York Times Presents) received a nomination for Outstanding Documentary or Non-fiction Special as well.
The Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show with rappers Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent is nominated for outstanding variety special (live). Also Adele: One Night Only received a nomination for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded).
Moreover, both music contest The Voice and Lizzo’s Watch Out For The Big Grrrls received a nomination for Outstanding competition program.
Nothing like a final nomination
One day before Bennett’s 96th birthday, Tony Bennet was added to the list of Emmy nominations with star Lady Gaga. The duo received a nomination for their work on the CBS concert special One Last Time: An Evening with Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga. The show aired in 2021.
The duo are now part of the Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) list.
The awards celebrate the television programs that went on the air from June 1, 2021, to May 31, 2022. They will broadcast September 12, 2022 (8:00-11:00 p.m. EDT/5:00-8:00 p.m. PDT) on NBC. For the first time, they will stream live on Peacock as well.
