Get ready for what might be the most significant R&B collaboration of the year with dvsn and Ty Dolla $ign. The soulful duo collaborated with Ty Dolla $ign on a surprise joint album that is guaranteed to make some memories.
Cheers to the Best Memories is the latest project from both artists, and it carries a natural silky smooth vibe that only dvsn and Ty could create. The 11-track album is a collection of intimate love songs that will set the mood for those late nights.
dvsn pulls out all the stops as they sample some of the best R&B 90’s jams like Silk’s “Freaky With You” and juvenile’s “Slow Motion.” The album is also complete with the help of heavyweights like YG and even the late great Mac Miller.
This is a dream pairing for R&B fans that was born of mutual fandom and a chance meeting at a party. Everything has come together as the amazing vocals by both musicians mix so well. The DNA of 90’s R&B runs through the veins of both Ty and dvsn’s music and it is on full display here.
In an interview with apple music, Ty Dolla $ign said this about the album. “We grew up on ’90s R&B, so I feel like it’s in all of us.”
And according to the duo dvsn, made up of producer Nineteen85 and singer Daniel Daley, the process was super organic. “One song turned into another song which turned into another song. And we looked up and realized we’re sitting on a bunch of records together.”
“Dangerous City,” which landed on dvsn’s previous album, was the spark to the rest of those sessions.
dvsn and Ty Dolla $ign Have Been Making Memories
Cheers to the Best Memories is the follow-up album to dvsn’s most recent third studio album. Amusing Her Feelings at the beginning of this year. The project flew under most people’s radars, but still contains some gems with features from people like Future, Snoh Aalegra, and many more.
As for the King of Features, Ty Dolla $ign hasn’t released any solo projects for this year but has been popping up on everyone else’s albums. Just this year, we’ve heard him in Tyler The Creator’s New Album CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST and he even made a single for Fast and Furious 9 with Jack Harlow and 24kGoldn.
As for what’s next for dvsn and Ty Dolla, things are kind of up in the air. Hopefully, as we open concerts up will hear a few tour dates announced soon. For now, listen to the new album and try your best to not make any babies.
