Dua Lipa and Kylie Minogue Collab on ‘Real Groove’ Remix

Dua Lipa and Kylie Minogue have released a collab. The musical reunion is a remix of ‘Real Groove’, a disco-funk-pop hit off of Minogue’s latest album, 2020’s Disco.

The new track is titled ‘Real Groove (Studio 2054 Remix)’ in honor of the pair’s earlier collaboration. In November, the two pop queens performed a duet on Lipa’s Studio 2054 live stream concert. They sang her hit ‘Love Again’, a single off of her 2020 album Future Nostalgia. The previous collab is no longer available, so it seems the two wanted to give their fans a song that would last forever.

‘Real Groove (Studio 2054 Remix)’ is an honest-to-god dancefloor anthem. In light of 2021’s fast approach, one can only hope to hear it in a club in the coming year.

The two pop singers come from different eras of pop, but together they shine as one, their vocals crisp over the funky techno-bass and dramatic orchestral backing. The song is reminiscent of Diana Ross at her height. But with Kylie Minogue and Dua Lipa, the tune has a new edge to it that can only come from the 21st century.

Kylie Minogue: 5 Decades of Pop Power

Minogue got her start in the late 1980s, both as an actress and rising pop star. By the time Dua Lipa was born in 1995, Minogue was a beloved figure in Australian and European culture and has been deemed the ‘Princess of Pop’ in the respective regions. Her reign has been fruitful: she’s the winner of a Grammy Award, three Brit Awards, and 17 ARIA Music Awards, among countless nominations. However, she is best known for her single, ‘Can’t Get You Out of My Head’ of the 2001 album Fever. It is one of the most iconic pop songs of all time and is what made her U.S. breakthrough, kickstarting an influence over American pop.

Dua Lipa: New School of Pop

Lipa didn’t need to hear the 2001 smash hit to become a fan of Minogue. Born in London at the rising of Minogue’s notoriety, Lipa had a headstart on adoring the pop icon. She’s cited Minogue as a major influence countless times and it is clear she has massive respect for Minogue, who Lipa refers to as ‘The Queen’. Lipa is a rising queen in her own right, skyrocketing to fame on the success of her 2017 single ‘New Rules’. And she’s continuing to rise. In 2019, she won two Grammys. For her latest album, she’s earned six Grammy nominations, including Album of the Year.
